Another German Song

I listened to another German song today, this one is also by Nena. Listen to it here.

German Song

Today I listened to a song in German, listen to it here.

The Baroque Era

The Baroque Era began in the early 17th century. In Germany the style was based off of houses of the rich in France. An example of this style in Germany is the Zwinger Palace (picture is of Zwinger park). This style was affected by the architecture of absolution, which put the ruler in the center, this meant that the spatial composition was increased. Another very important building from the Baroque Era is the Würzburg Residence. Ronocco, a phase of the Baroque Era, brightened the colors used, an example of this is the Sanssouci Palace. Many German buildings from this time are counted as a German rival of Versailles.

Sauerkraut

For the sauerkraut I chopped bacon into small pieces and cooked it. Then I diced half an onion and added that, stirring it in. After the bacon had cooked I added a chopped apple. Then I dumped the sauerkraut on top and mixed it. Next I added a stick of cinnamon, cloves, and all spice. The pictures are in order from end to beginning.

Sausage

The ingredients for the sausage and sauerkraut
The sausage was already cooked (it wasn't raw) so I just had to warm them, I put two tablespoons of olive oil into the pan. I poked them four times each (twice on both sides) with a fork so they didn't split. Then I put them in and my mom added half a can of beer. Halfway through, when the underside was a light brown, I flipped them over. It was really easy but very good. Images at very top are the sausages cooking and being poked.

German Meal

Last night I watched the boys and made a german meal. I served sausage, sauerkraut, apple sauce, latkes, stollen (a german christmas bread), and for dessert, gummy bears from germany. The process and recipes for the sausage and the sauerkraut are in following posts. The stollen my mom made and the latkes I just reheated,
