The Baroque Era began in the early 17th century. In Germany the style was based off of houses of the rich in France. An example of this style in Germany is the Zwinger Palace (picture is of Zwinger park). This style was affected by the architecture of absolution, which put the ruler in the center, this meant that the spatial composition was increased. Another very important building from the Baroque Era is the Würzburg Residence. Ronocco, a phase of the Baroque Era, brightened the colors used, an example of this is the Sanssouci Palace. Many German buildings from this time are counted as a German rival of Versailles.
